Y Sports Leagues provide an introductory, fun experience for children ages 3-18 years old. We're always in need of Volunteer Coaches to help teach sportsmanship, teamwork & specific skills to the kids! No experience necessary, we will provide you with practice plans. Volunteers must be 14 or older. We recommend that teenagers pair up with a friend to co-coach a team. We are in search of volunteers with a love of the water who would like to assist our lead instructors with water safety instruction for children currently in 2nd grade. Our volunteers will help our lead instructors to teach comfortability in the water and develop skills through fun and confidence-building experiences as well as drowning prevention. Tutoring Buddies is an annual program where we use community contacts to support kids and families who may need extra assistance in school. We focus on school work as well as reading and math for elementary school age (k-5). Tutoring kits are provided and training will be provided. This program takes place offsite at The Branch Church (Junction Drive Ashland, VA 23005) and is an eight week commitment. Leaders' Club Senior Leaders will serve as role models for our Junior Leaders' and Leaders' Club Program. This includes working with the Leaders' Club Advisor, upholding our YMCA Core Values, and modeling positive behaviors for our teens in the Leaders' Club Program.
